Sustainability and Innovation:

At Complastex, sustainability is not just a word:

It is an integral part of our daily commitment

Part of the energy we use is CO2 offset to minimize the environmental impact of our operations and we also ensure that every stage of our supply chain meets the highest sustainability standards.
We collaborate with suppliers who share our values and guarantee ethical and low-impact production practices, ensuring a controlled and transparent supply chain.
In addition, we are actively committed to giving value back to the environment, In addition, we are deeply committed to giving back to the environment in meaningful ways, planting trees to further offset emissions.
At Complastex, we believe that a greener future to be possible and we work every day to build it, together with you

Low Environmental Impact Gasket Production

Pegaso Rubber can use polymers derived from bionaphtha or certified bio-attributed naphtha to produce high quality compounds. These compounds are then supplied to Complastex to produce gaskets with a low environmental impact. CO₂-emissions-compensated energy supports the production process, ensuring sustainable and high-quality end products.

Environmental Benefits of Bio-attributed EPDM

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a synthetic elastomer appreciated for its excellent resistance to atmospheric agents, ozone and water. These characteristics make it ideal for a wide range of industrial applications, including the production of gaskets. By using bio- attributed EPDM compounds Complastex is able to offer products that maintain high technical performances, and contribute to the reduction of environmental impact.

Renewable Sources and Commitment to Sustainability

Complastex materials are certified according to international sustainability standards, ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the production chain. Currently, 30% of our energy comes from renewable sources, contributing to a reduction of 180 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Complastex also adheres through aggregation to the GSE Energy Release 2.0 tender, aimed at the construction of a photovoltaic system of to produce clean energy.

Complastex Environmental Initiatives

In addition to adopting sustainable production processes, Complastex has acquired a poplar grove, actively contributing to reforestation and natural absorption of CO₂. This initiative represents a further step in the company's environmental responsibility program, aimed at improving the positive impact on the territory and the ecosystem.

TRADITIONAL PROCESS

Traditionally, EPDM is produced using fossil fuel naphtha, derived from oil refining. A consolidated process but with a high environmental impact, linked to the use of non-renewable resources.

Balance® BA and BCA The bio-naphtha used is derived from raw materials of biological origin, such as vegetable oils (BA), used cooking oils or other types of organic waste (BCA). All raw materials come from certified supply chains, thus ensuring compliance with sustainability principles and responsible production practices.

Bio-attributed naphtha production

Thanks to our partner and the Mass Balance Versalis service, we can use bio- attributed naphtha, obtained from renewable raw materials such as vegetable oils or organic waste, which enters the production process to replace fossil naphtha. Thanks to the mass balance principle, we can produce EPDM with the same technical performance, but with a significantly reduced environmental footprin

Bio-attributed naphtha production

Versalis applies the Mass Balance approach, a recognized chain of custody that, through well- defined rules, allows the sustainability characteristics of alternative raw materials to be attributed in a controlled and verifiable manner to the final products. Therefore, our EPDM gaskets are made from bio-attributed naphtha, delivering a tangible impact on the transition to a more sustainable economy. A responsible choice that combines high performance and respect for the environment.

Innovative Water Management

Our processed water recirculation system minimizes emissions to the environment, demonstrating our commitment in using water resources responsibly.

Energy efficiency

An in-depth diagnosis of energy consumption has been carried out, aimed at identifying actions to progressively reduce it, a monitoring system is being implemented to allow continuous consumption detection, aiming at identifying potential saving areas and strategies.

Innovation in recycling

We are committed in research and development of advanced technologies for the recycling of post- industrial and post-consumer materials, with the aim of reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.

Regeneration of the territory We have planted 1,400 trees on a plot of land of approximately 44,000 m² near the company, contributing to local biodiversity and improving air quality. Furthermore, the growth of the trees will sequester CO2 for a quantity equal to approximately 600 t in 10 years, corresponding to the neutralization of 15% of the CO2 generated by the energy from non-renewable energy sources that we currently use.
